February: Control of infectious diseases
There are many different infectious diseases — from anthrax to West Nile virus — and controlling their spread has been a fundamental goal since the beginning of public health in Canada. We are focusing on venereal diseases, HIV/AIDS, polio and tuberculosis to illustrate just a few of our historic achievements and the ongoing fight against infectious diseases across the country and around the world.
