1986: CPHA AIDS Education and Awareness Program Approved!

CPHA Health Digest, Vol. 10, No. 2, August 1986
CPHA is pleased to report that the Minister of Health, the Honorable Jake Epp, announced May 1st, a major initiative by the Government on AIDS, and CPHA was named as the health agency responsible for the education and awareness part of the Program.
CPHA will join forces with Health and Welfare Canada, federal and provincial governments and agencies, as well as associations concerned about AIDS, to develop national AIDS education and awareness programs throughout Canada.
The AIDS issue will be addressed by CPHA through four main programs, supported by Health and Welfare Canada, that will stress health promotion, prevention and education to health professionals and the general public:
- A series of scientific symposia across the country for health professionals;
- A number of public forums which would enable professionals and the general public to meet and discuss AIDS;
- The establishment of a clearing house at CPHA for information on AIDS; and
- An Education and Awareness Program utilizing the media.
