Sound Bites from the Past

It is tempting to think that we live in the most challenging of times. History reminds us that this is not always the case. These sound bites from the past show us how far we have come in order to celebrate this year of great achievements.

Many sound bites are from the minutes of the Dominion Council of Health. The Council was created in 1919 as the principal advisory agency to the Minister of National Health and Welfare. Its members were federal and provincial deputy ministers of health, along with external representatives from agriculture, labour, women’s organizations and health groups. The minutes are available on microfilm at Archives Canada.

Sound bites will be added throughout the year and you are encouraged to add sound bites of your own.
