The Strengthening of Public Health Associations (SOPHA) Program is the flagship global health program of the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA), reflecting its values and principles internationally. Since 1985, SOPHA has provided support to more than 30 Public Health Associations (PHAs) to develop the voice of civil society for a stronger public health sector around the world.
The SOPHA Program strengthens the capacity of partner PHAs to participate in national health policy dialogue, promotes national and international leadership in public health, and facilitates technical exchanges between Canadian and overseas public health practitioners.
